General Motors' 78-year-old product chief Bob Lutz (insert 'car tsar', 'car guy', 'Maximum Bob' cliché here) announced his retirement shortly after the 2010 Geneva motor show. CAR Online caught up with Maximum Bob to hear of his thoughts on the new GM, future products and exactly what happened behind the scenes during GM's collapse into Chapter 11 bankruptcy. CAR: GM's been on quite a journey over the past 18 months.
Donald Frey, a senior product planning manager at Ford Motor Co. in the 1960s who along with Hal Sperlich and Lee Iacocca developed the iconic Ford Mustang, died on March 5 in Evanston, Ill., from a stroke. He was 87 years old.
The Seat Toledo returns to the market as a compact (4,480mm) sedan that sits between the B-segment Ibiza and larger Leon hatchback. The Toledo – and its Skoda and Audi siblings – marks a return to the lower end of the sedan market and sensible family transport. Whether this translates into Seat's supposed youthful image remains to be seen, but from the initial press images, little of the ‘dynamic lines' form introduced on the Ibiza by former design chief Luc Donckerwolke appear.
